HMIS (Hazardous Materials Identification System) – The Hazardous Materials Identification System is a numerical hazard rating that incorporates the use of color-coded labels developed by the American Painting Materials Association as a means of meeting the OSHA standard for hazard communication.
Blue indicates health hazard, red indicates flammability, orange indicates physical hazard, and white indicates personal protection.
Numerical scores range from 0 (safe) to 4.
